일꾼이 되어라.  Be The Worker In The Lord

세상에는 여러 사람들이 살고 있습니다. 피부나 언어와 문화가 다른 부류가 살고 있기도 하고 인종이 다른 경우도 많습니다.
서로 모습은 달라도 인간의 기본적인 인성과 질서는  똑같습니다.
또한 어떤 대륙에 살든  섬에 살든  사람은  부지런히 자기 할 일을 하는 움직임을 가져야  살 수 있다는 것입니다.
사람들이  모여 살다보면  공동체를 이루고 다양한 사회를 이룹니다.
그 공동체 속에  있는 구성원들이 그 공동체의 성격을 좌우 합니다.
가정이나 교회라는 공동체 안에는 여러 성격과 인격을 가진 사람들이 있습니다.
모두가 선한 일꾼들만 있으면 얼마나 좋겠습니까? 그러나 일꾼들보다
공동체에 생채기를 내는 방해꾼들이 더 많습니다. 겉은 귀한 일꾼 같은데 실제로는
천박한 방해꾼인 경우도  많습니다. 어떤 사람은  신실한 일꾼인줄 알았더니 아무 감각 없는  무책임한  구경꾼들입니다.  가정에도 구경꾼 같은 가족들이 있습니다.
교회나 가정에 구경꾼이나 방해꾼만 있다면 가정은 건강성을 잃어버린 것입니다.
거기에는 갈등과 불평과 냉소만 넘칠 뿐입니다.
어떤 공동체든 살리는 사람은  다름 아닌   일꾼들입니다. 국가에도 일꾼들은 없고 방해꾼들과 구경꾼들만 있으면 심각해집니다.
살만한 가정을 꾸리려면 필요한 것이 단순히 물질만 필요한 것이 아닙니다. 가정은 꾸리는 일꾼들이 필요합니다. 일꾼들은 일만 하는 사람을 말하는 것이 아닙니다.
일꾼들은  맡은 영역에 대한 책임자이며 조화와 융화를 이끌며 스스로를 발전시키는 사람입니다. 단순히 일만 하는 사람은  노예일 뿐입니다. 노예는 절대로 고민하면서 일하지 않습니다. 그저 시키는 일만 기계적으로 할 뿐입니다.
그러나 일꾼들은  창조적인 사람들입니다. 가정의 일꾼은  가정을 하나로 묶어내는 일부터 좀 더 인화단결하고 진솔한 관계형성과 더욱더 성숙한 인간관계까지 이뤄내는 역할을 담당합니다. 교회에서나 직장에서도 마찬가지 입니다. 직장에서도 창조적인 발상을 가지고 근무하기 때문에 더 발전할 수밖에 없습니다.
구약성경에 나발이라는 큰돈을 벌었던 사업가가 있었습니다. 그는  다윗의 절대적인 도움을 받아 기업을 운영할 수 있었습니다. 다윗이 없었다면 절대로 사업의 결과를 낼 수 없는 환경이었습니다. 어느 날  다윗은 부하들을 시켜서  나발의 집에 가서
나발의 사업에 경비를 해주었던 병사들에게  수고한 성의를 해줄 것을 요청했습니다. 그러나 나발은 냉혹하게 거절했습니다. 이 사실로 인해 다윗의  군인들이 분노하여 나발의 모든 것을 파괴하기로  했니다. 그렇지만 나발의 부인 아비가일은  자신의 남편의 어리석은 일로 가정과 사업이 위기를 맞은 것을 알고  부지런히 종들을 대동하고 선물들을  말에 싣고  다윗의 군사들을 향하여 사과하러 달려갔습니다.
아비가일로 인해 나발의 사업은  위기에서 보존할 수 있게 되었습니다.
가정이라는 공동체에 돈도 잘 벌고 소유는 많았지만 나발은 방해꾼이고, 아비가일은
일꾼이었습니다. 일꾼이 있는 곳은 열매가 있습니다. 일꾼은 일의 양으로 평가받지 않고  인격과 조화와 헌신과 지혜로 만들어내는 열매로 평가받습니다.
새해에는   있는 곳 어디든지  귀한 열매를 맺는 귀한 일꾼 되기를 바랍니다.

Be The Worker In The Lord

There are countless variety of people in the world, such as skin tones, language, culture, and even race. Regardless of this variety in exterior aspects, humans share the same basic characters and order. For instance, regardless where one lives, such as island or continent, one has to earnestly do their given tasks in order to live.

When individuals gather together, they form a community and diverse societies. The members in a society determine the characteristics of the community. As such even in family and church, members have a variety of characteristics and personalities. How great would it be if all of the members were good workers? Unfortunately, there are more disruptive individuals than workers in communities. In most cases, the disruptive interrupter talk and wrap themselves up as important and precious workers. Some pretends to be faithful workers, when they were irresponsible spectators. Families also have members who are spectators as well. Communities, including churches and families, will lose its health and wellness when it is full of just spectators and/or interrupters. Those communities would be only overfilling with complaints, sarcastic smiles, and conflicts.

It is the workers who brings life to all types of communities and societies. For instance, if a country only has spectators and interrupters, instead of workers, the country will be in serious trouble. In order to make a lively family, one needs more than just materials- the workers. Workers are not those who just work, but a self motivated individual who is responsible, coordinative, and strives for harmony. If a person simply works, s/he is nothing but a slave. Slaves do not concern over anything else, but just work like a machine when they are told. However, workers are creative individuals. Workers in a family takes on the responsibilities of developing unified, matured, and honest relationships. These workers are same in other settings, such as church and at work. As they approach things with creative outlook, they can not help but develop even in work places.

There was a rich business man named Nabal. With unconditional help from David, he was able to run his business. Without King David, his environment would not have allowed for such a success in business. One day, David sent his subordinates to ask for some sincere appreciation to his subordinates from Nabal for protecting his business. Nabal, however, coldly denied. When David's army found out about this, they decided to destroy everything that belonged to Nabal. However, Nabal's wife Abigail acted quickly after finding out that her husband's foolishness would jeopardize family and business, in order to apologize to David's army with slaves and presents. Thanks to Abigail, Nabal's business was able to be perserved. Even though he earned well and had numerous possessions, Nabal was a disruptive interrupter in a family, whereas Abigail was a worker. Where there are workers, there are fruits. Workers do not get evaluated by quantity of work, but rather fruit from wisdom, dedication, harmony, and personality.

This new year, I hope that you may become a precious worker, who can bear fruit no matter the place and environment.
